After enjoying a short break, 2011 NZ Motorsport Academy graduate Kyle George returned to the NZ Formula First class with a bang. The Hamiltonian took out the round held in cold and blustery conditions with pole position, two wins and a second place over the weekend – with team-mate Matt Higham claiming the other win of the round.
With more cars showing up to this round than the previous two, some of the new drivers in the class look to have picked up the pace easily, as MSR’s new recruit Rowan Shepherd ran top three pace throughout the weekend and Sabre Motorsport’s Scholarship winner Malcolm Finch showing consistent lap times during the 6 lap events.
Another driver returning was the black and green sabre of Oliver Gordon, who held the leading pace throughout the weekend and looks to be a dark horse for round wins this 2011/12 FFirst Championship season.
With the class returning for the final round a month look to see even more drivers return as they prepare for the new year of Weldwell NZ Formula First racing.
