With three wins from three starts, Rowan Shepherd and the Go Rentals Shepherd racing team stamped their authority on the NZ Formula First pre-season event that is the 2011 winter series championship.

Though he didn’t have it all his own way over the weekend, as series dark horse Oliver Gordon continued to impress, finishing within a tenth of a second in two of the three races. Scholarship winner Malcolm Finch overcame gearbox issues to claim second in the series with three consecutive third place finishes.

Rounding out the competitors was Michael Scott, who unfortunately had to finish his weekend early, after an incident during race two caused him to forfeit the final race.

With just under a month until the inaugural round of the 2011 Weldwell NZ Formula First championship series, the challenge has been laid down to the veterans of the class, as two of the 2011 rookies have shown they have what it takes to be at the front of this competitive class.
