The Schlorship run out of, Formula First Champion Dennis Martin's, Sabre Motorsport team has been the kick start in many NZ drivers careers including, V8 Supercars Star Shane Van Gisbergen, Richie Stanaway and Nick Cassidy.

The Formula First category has also been the starting point in many of NZ's best drivers lncluding, 3x IndyCar Champ and Indy 500 winner Scott Dixon, GP3 Champ and GP2 driver Mitch Evans and MANY more!

The Scholarship finalists will race off at Manfeild in May and the winner will receive a fully funded year in the NZ Formula First series as well as the Manfeild Winter Series, 12 racing rounds in total. They will also get customised Race boots, gloves and suit from Chicane Racewear and off track mentoring and tution. The scholarship is valued at $50,000.

“As the title suggests Formula First is the first, and in my opinion, the best place to start a motor racing career,” said SpeedSport Scholarship co-founder Dennis Martin. “The cars are not sophisticated so being successful in this class is reward of driver development. I’ve always said there’s more speed to be found inside the helmet than in the car, and that’s been proven by seeing how year on year different drivers use the same package and get quite contrasting results.”

Entries for the 2015 SpeedSport Scholarship can only be made on-line at speedsportscholarship.co.nz and close on May 16th.
