Scorpion Racecars Development Formula First driver Elliot Andrew is set to take part in Toyota Racing New Zealand's test day at Manfeild Motorsport Park.
The 23 year old from Wellington is excited at being back behind the wheel of a tin top for the first time since his car racing debut nearly a year ago at the Mahindra North Island Endurance Series where he finished 2nd in class onboard a Seat Leon Supercopa with New Zealand team Motorsport Services.
"Obviously I am really looking forward to the upcoming test with Toyota New Zealand and having the opportunity to try out this fantastic piece of machinery. I have been following the TR86 championship all of last season with interest and I am excited to get back behind the wheel of a fully prepped tin top race car."
The Toyota 86 Series is a one make series where drivers compete with identical Toyota 86 cars fully race prepared with FIA approved roll cage, Sparco race seats, Motec data logger and display, MCA adjustable shocks and full Michelin slick and wet tyres. Elliot is feeling confident about the upcoming test at Manfeild and the opportunities it could bring for his future.
"I have had a bit of experience at Manfeild with a few test days in other equipment, but being able to compete in the Formula First Championship last season and having driven the track in a race situation, this will certainly help me in this upcoming test. The idea is to get a feel for the car and seeing where my times stack up among the other drivers in the championship. If I am competitive, who knows, it could be another avenue into another championship in the future."
The test is due to take part on the 31st of July at Manfeild Motorsport Park.
